FR: You reported on Sunday that a total of 12 inches of rain was recorded for Perry Hall. Why doesn't the NWS Storm Total Rainfall map show a deep purple blob in that area of eastern/northeastern Baltimore County?
FR REPLIES: That total came from one observer. It was surrounded by stations reporting much less. If they saw that report at all, I suspect the NWS map makers may have dropped it as being suspect.

Unless the secessionist movement has succeeded in the past few days, these maps don't reflect data from "Maryland."
FR REPLIES: They reflect the forecast area covered by the NWS forecast office in Sterling, Va. That excludes the Eastern Shore and Garrett County.

Frank,
Thanks. I understood and assumed that. Just thought your headline might be made more specific and less ... presumptive. Is similar data for the Eastern Shore available?
FR REPLIES: There's a statewide rainfall map, for Sunday only, here: http://bsun.md/pFTier No high wind map yet, but it's coming. The same page also has a radar loop for much of the storm.
