Record heat index? You don't want to be there
FROM TODAY'S PRINT EDITIONS:
“Capt. Jack” writes: “I saw a heat index of 126 for Iowa… Is that a record? What’s the heat index record high for this part of the country?” According to Wikipedia, a report from Dhahran, Saudi Arabia on July 8, 2003 put the temperature at 108 degrees, with a dew point of 95 degrees. That makes the heat index 172 degrees. Another reason not to live there.
The unofficial record for BWI (since May 1977), is 122 degrees, on July 15, 1995. The temperature was 102, the dew point 79.
