Yes, it CAN snow in October
FROM TODAY'S PRINT EDITIONS:
Baltimore’s snow season is officially open. Okay, it’s not official, just my say-so. But Saturday marked the date of the earliest snowfall on record for Baltimore – a trace that fell Oct. 9, 1903.
Plenty of Marylanders remember the earliest measurable snow on record. It was the 0.3-inch mess that fell on Oct. 10, 1979, postponing Game 1 of the World Series at Memorial Stadium, between the Orioles and the Pirates.
The deepest October snow was 2.5 inches, on Oct. 30, 1925.

Frank what about highs? Are there 90+ high temps in October or is the summer forecast contest offically over?
FR: The latest record high of 90 degrees or higher for Baltimore is on Oct. 23. It was 91 on that date in 1947. That's when the contest will close. The total for this year now stands at 59 days. If that holds, "Angel" will be our winner, with a guess of ... 59. That said, the NWS is predicting a high today at BWI of 86 degrees. They have a habit of undershooting our daytime highs, so this game is not over yet..
