From the Maryland State Police website:
Commanders of all 22 State Police barracks are reporting disabled vehicles are their most frequent call for service. These calls are usually involving vehicles and drivers who are not equipped to travel in this type of extreme weather and are becoming stuck in the snow. Troopers are reporting that most drivers of the disabled vehicles have no important or emergency purpose for being on the highway. Disabled vehicles are causing significant problems for snow removal crews and are inhibiting the emergency response of police and fire personnel.
I say we charge these people. Why should taxpayers have to pay for their arrogance and stupidity?

Amazing the difference a few miles makes. We're over 32" in Elkridge, and it's still falling!

I don't know who wrote the forecast discussion at 10:30, but they missed the mark when they said they didn't expect it to be a record snow. Maybe it isn't for DC, but it will be for Baltimore.
A special weather statement was issued at 11:30:
AT 11:45 AM THIS MORNING ... WEATHER OBSERVERS AT BALTIMORE`S THURGOOD
MARSHALL BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT REPORTED 26.5 INCHES OF SNOW ON THE GROUND. THIS IS ONLY 0.3 INCHES SHY OF THE 26.8 INCH RECORD FROM THE PRESIDENTS DAY FEBRUARY 2003 STORM. THE AIRPORT IS FORECAST TO HAVE AN ADDITIONAL 3 TO 6 INCHES BEFORE THE STORM ENDS THIS EVENING.

We are over 30 inches in Severn, stinks that the record won't reflect outlying areas.
