Small quake rattles North Jersey
A small earthquake rattled part of northern New Jersey late last night. The tremor was centered in Morris County, 30 miles west of Manhattan and just southwest of downtown Morristown, near the community of Victory Gardens. No injuries were reported.
The magnitude was rated at 3.0 and a depth of about 3 miles.
Residents described the event as a loud "booming," or an underground explosion. Here is a New York Times report on the event, which occurred at 10:34 p.m. EST.
