Big rain ahead

Imagine of it were snow. Forecasters are predicting as much as an inch of rain in the Baltimore area over the next two days. It's the same storm that buried Denver and parts of the high Plains in snow, but it's pulling way too much warm air out of the Gulf region now to produce anything here but rain. Look at all this moisture that's coming our way. And look how it's swamped New Orleans.

It's not all bad. We're way behind on precipitation this month - about 2 inches. But the rain may make the long drive to Grandmother's house Friday or Saturday even longer, and slipperier. Drive with care.

A comment that I am certain alot of people share -- why is the statement made that this is not "all bad"? What is wrong with some people!!!??? Yes - we are deficient for December but well above normal for the entire year!!! (Well - all except BWI, which most folks who read anything here can't believe - I am convinced they shut down their rain guage sometime in August). Where is it written that unless EVERY month is at or above normal it is an absolute travesty and we must "catch up"? Some months are average, some below, some above - that is the nature of weather. Those of us that have to drive to work or to a shopping center to do last minute Xmas errands in this slop would probably take exception to your comments. Sorry for the rant - but it just burns me up to see folks who appear to be nothing more than "cheereleaders for a monsoon" several times a year. I realize this probably won't get published but somehow it just makes me feel better to vent a bit. Thanks.

Less coffee, Rich, and more eggnog. Take an umbrella and have a Merry Christmas!
