Here in Gaithersburg the snow didn't start till a few mins after midnight early Fri morning, now at 2:20 AM the snow is falling nicely now, with a good 1/2 inch of new snow out there right now on top of the 1 inch of old snow from earlier in the week. Temperature was 29 at midnight but with the snow cooling things down the past few hours, the temperature has now dropped down to 27.

Drove from Bethesda, MD up to Timonium, MD around 3 am...plenty of snow..because NONE of Maryland's 2200 snow plows were actually out on the road...I saw NOT EVEN ONE of the plows during my 50 mile drive on I-95 and the Baltimore Beltway (695)..With around 2 to 3 inches on the ground (drifts included) I felt like my car was plowing the damn road. I'm from NY, so driving in snow is no problem for me, but at least up there the plows are actually doing their job and plowing the road...Not here in Maryland.

Thanks for all the comments. We had about 3 inches in Cockeysville - less than the 4 inches we had from the first storm this week. The difference was this one stuck to the street. Looks like the warm air moving in from the ocean changed much of the precip to sleet and rain. It also appeared to be a very fast-moving storm. It wasn't snowing yet when I went to bed at 11. And it was over when I got up at 7. And by the time I headed for work, the roads were wet but clear, the sun was shining and the skies were blue. Looks like New England will get the brunt of this one.
