You can thank the developing El Nino for most of this mess. California's heavy rains included. The Hadley Cells are getting shoved around and the amplitude of all these weather patterns is stronger than normal. A sharp spike in solar flaring last summer compared to the previous 4-6 months coincided with certain solar magnetic field readings. This along with last summer's western QBO causes an El Nino to develop some 199 days later. The Southern Oscillation Index has turned sharply negative the last 30 days. The 30 & 90 averages have exceeded the 2002-2003 event.
